Coffee table styling with DeChelle A. Harris

October 31, 2013

For this shoot, interior  designer DeChelle A. Harris found inspiration from this year’s September issue of InStyle magazine’s feature on Yaya Alafia. Yaya was photographed wearing luxe velvets, furs, embroidered florals, sequined woolens, and embellished silk, all in vivid hues. DeChelle incorporated inspiring aspects from Yaya’s shoot by using bold color in her styling approach.

Color was a major factor in everything from the pillows and throw to the vases, the table runner, as well as the coffee table books. She incorporated texture using glass, a mix of metals and fabrics. As in the editorial, DeChelle sought to capture a bit of whimsy and allure by mixing an eclectic array of materials in an unexpected yet refreshing manner.

About DeChelle:

Principal of Chelle Albert Interiors, DeChelle A. Harris, has worked in the Interior Design industry for nearly 10 years, creating innovative, tasteful and colorful spaces. DeChelle believes all spaces should leave a lasting impression on all who enter and she works tirelessly combining design and construction techniques, colors and textures, to do just that. She approaches interior design from the perspective of an artist, always looking to create something vibrant and fresh.

DeChelle’s personal style is a bold mix of very many styles. On any given day, you may find her in a chic head-to-toe black ensemble paired with sky high stilettos or a preppy polo shirt dress and Keds sneakers. On the weekends, she’s likely to be dressed more the part of a hipster, in large personality glasses, ripped jeans and Converse. She is known for wearing a bold, red lip and rarely turns down a chance to add drama to any outfit she is wearing. DeChelle bounces between styles like some transfer between trains. It is not rare for her to hear that she always “looks different”, though few can usually pinpoint why.
